About Kelly
I’m a PhD student in the Graduate Group in Ecology at UC Davis. I study how animal “personality” affects encounter and infection rates with parasites, and how parasites modify the personality of their hosts after infection. In a nutshell, I infect fish’s brains with parasites and then measure how that changes their behavior. I’m currently focusing on how steroid hormones (like testosterone and cortisol) change in concentration in response to infection.
When I’m not elbow deep in fish guts I wage a crusade to educate the world about the awesomeness of parasites. You can find cool parasitology updates, and my thoughts on interesting scientific papers at my blog, Weinersmith. When I’m not doing science (sciencing) or thinking about science (scientating) I’m… well… probably sad and wishing I was sciencing.

Not a criticism, but get the guys to put up a link to weekly weinersmith. Just finished listening and liked it very much. I found science sort of through a post or comment on SMBC (which I really am not sure how I found originally) but there is no link to WW here or on SMBC!!
